Community

Autism Society of Los Angeles fosters connections within the community. Connections to resources, information, services, opportunities, and of course, to each other.

Whether you are a parent looking for a support group to build social connections for your child, or a self-advocate looking for ways to impact policy in your community, the Autism Society of Los Angeles knows that The Connection is You™.

Self Advocate Speakers Bureau

Provides the opportunity for adults with a disability to speak in front of audiences to create acceptance of differences. This diverse team includes all disabilities and modes of communication.

Our team of self-advocates have spoken at conferences, educations events such as schools, LAPD, and private and public organizations.  This also encourages “employment” opportunities for the self advocate speakers.

Please contact us to join the Self Advocate Speakers Bureau or to request a speaker.

Law Enforcement Training

Since 2006, we have trained over 7,000 officers, other 1st responders and detention staff through Autism Society of Los Angeles (ASLA) safety initiatives.

ASLA maintains a bi-monthly education partnership with LAPD Mental Evaluation Unit (MEU) to educate officers on interactions with the Autism and disability community.

We help to improve the outcomes for our community members.
