Most importantly, we are a lead organization advocating for changes in California laws that will have a profound positive impact on the thousands of individuals with disabilities. Learn more about Self-Determination <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autismla.org\/1\/self-determination-now\/\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Day by day, we are engaged in community activities in the Los Angeles area &#8211; as an example, this week an ASLA team\u00a0facilitated\u00a0a training event for UCLA medical professionals through Project AutTrain, and an ASLA team\u00a0facilitated a\u00a0training\u00a0event for law enforcement at LAPD. Our initiatives help to improve the outcomes for our community members!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Please consider becoming a member of the Autism Society of Los Angeles. Membership is very reasonable and we are mostly a volunteer-run organization so our funding goes to planning events, trainings, and our advocacy efforts in Los Angeles and Sacramento. JOIN\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/autismla.us\/1\/membership\/\">HERE<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Events in December!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This month please join us for these events:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, December 7, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASLA proudly launches the Self-Advocate&#8217;s Speakers Bureau for adults of <strong><u>all<\/u><\/strong> disabilities over 18 years old.If you are an adult with a disability who likes to speak in front of audiences to create acceptance of differences, please see the flyer below. San Fernando Valley will be coming soon!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, December 9, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ASLA launches the 1<sup>st<\/sup> in a series of Community Town Halls. December 9 will focus on Special Education &#8211; Please note this is across all disabilities.\u00a0 Representatives from a range of school districts will attend to hear your concerns.\u00a0 Future Community Town Halls will include Regional Centers and Medical &amp; IHSS.
