Happy New Year!!
Good News – we are moving nearer to the Self-Determination Program, it looks like the waiver is getting closer to approval.
You may remember that for the first three years, there will be a phase-in period and only 2,500 regional center clients will be able to be part of the Self-Determination Program. (After three years, it will be open to everyone.)  The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) will be randomly picking the 2,500 participants based on diversity factors by regional center, such as gender, ethnicity, disability, and age.
To be part of that random selection, you must attend an information meeting about the Self-Determination Program.
In January, ASLA are sponsoring 2 sessions, we hope to see you there:

January 22 7pm – 9:30pm Goldsmith Jewish Federation Building,  6505 Wilshire Blvd, Sanders Board Room

January 29 10am – 12pm Mychal’s Learning Place, 4901 W. Rosecrans Ave., Hawthorne, CA 90250
Additional information sessions planned so far in the LA area, are included below and more will be released during the quarter.
Have a great month, hope to see you at an informational session or the Caring Parent Connection tonight!
